Tiny Marsh Provincial Wildlife Area

Tiny Marsh is a protected wetland area featuring marshes, open water, bogs, and forest near Nottawasaga Bay. The site contains dikes, walking trails, observation towers, a viewing mound, and a nature center for visitors to explore.

The site became Ontario's first provincially owned and managed wetland, setting a turning point for conservation efforts in the region. This status established a model that influenced how other wetlands in the province would be protected.

Bird watching is central to how people experience this place, drawing enthusiasts from across the region to observe species found nowhere else nearby. Local groups actively work to protect and monitor these birds throughout the year.

The site is accessible from multiple parking areas with trails of varying difficulty levels throughout the property. Wear appropriate footwear since terrain can be muddy and slippery, especially during wetter seasons.

The area hosts 250 different bird species and is known for supporting populations of threatened species like the Least Bittern. Eleven duck species use the habitat year-round, making it a crucial stopover point along migration routes.
