Yonge Eglinton Centre, Commercial complex at Yonge and Eglinton, Canada
Yonge Eglinton Centre is a commercial complex with two office towers and a shopping concourse in northern Toronto. The building connects directly to Eglinton subway station and houses over 65 stores, services, and entertainment venues including a cinema and restaurants.
Construction began in 1974 when developers Greenwin and Horizon cleared the site and built the complex on land previously occupied by a supermarket. The project became a major landmark in shaping the neighborhood's development as a commercial hub.
The shopping concourse functions as a neighborhood gathering place where residents meet, shop, and spend time together across multiple dining and retail options. The variety of stores and venues reflects the diverse interests of the surrounding community.
The building spans 30 floors accessible by 12 elevators, with a tunnel system providing weather-protected passage to the adjacent subway station year-round. This direct connection makes visiting convenient regardless of weather conditions.
A 2016 renovation expanded both towers, added a public rooftop patio, and replaced the exterior with modern glass cladding that completely transformed the building's appearance. This overhaul made the aging structure look contemporary and refreshed.
