Bayview Bridge, Deck truss bridge in Toronto, Canada.
Bayview Bridge is a six-lane deck truss structure spanning about 350 meters across the West Don River, linking Lawrence Avenue East to Bayview Avenue. The bridge carries both vehicles and pedestrians through the Don Valley gorge.
Construction finished in 1929 and enabled the development of the Bridle Path residential area in northeast Toronto. The bridge proved essential for connecting this newly emerging neighborhood to the rest of the city.
The bridge was designed by engineering firm Margison and Babcock and reflects Canadian infrastructure capabilities from the late 1920s. Today it shapes how residents and commuters move between the two neighborhoods on either side of the valley.
The bridge is easily accessed from multiple roads and experiences heavy daily traffic from cars, trucks, and pedestrians. Drivers should expect congestion during rush hours as this is a major transport corridor through the valley.
Major restorations were completed in 1969 and again in 1994, ensuring the original structure remained stable across the decades. These interventions allowed the bridge to maintain its engineering integrity while handling modern traffic demands.
