Inn on the Park, Former luxury hotel in North York, Ontario
Inn on the Park was a luxury hotel in North York featuring a six-story central tower with two-story wings arranged in a parallelogram shape along Leslie Street and Eglinton Avenue. The property included a convention center, multiple dining venues, and recreational facilities designed for both business and leisure guests.
Four Seasons Hotels opened this establishment in 1963 as their first location outside downtown Toronto, marking an expansion into the suburban market. The hotel became a trendsetter in the region and remained operational for more than four decades before closing.
The place became home to Canada's first disco venue, the Café Discotheque, where guests could dance and enjoy live and recorded music in a modern setting. It served as a gathering spot for the city's social scene and visitors from around the world.
The original structure was demolished in 2006 and the site was converted into a Toyota dealership. Today the location is accessible by car or transit along the main roads, though the new building does not offer public entry.
The building's architectural layout formed the shape of a Star of David when viewed from above. This geometric design by architect Peter Dickinson was a deliberate choice that remains largely unnoticed by visitors on the ground.
