Oberalpstock

The Oberalpstock rises to 3,328 meters between Uri and Graubünden cantons, forming a natural boundary between the Maderanertal and Surselva valleys.

The mountain has maintained its position as the highest peak in Uri east of the Reuss River since its first documented climbing expeditions in the 19th century.

Local communities in both Uri and Graubünden cantons incorporate the mountain's image into their regional identity and traditional alpine farming practices.

Multiple hiking trails lead to the summit from different starting points, with the most frequented route beginning at the Golzerensee parking area.

The mountain contains extensive glacial formations on its northern face, creating a natural water reservoir that feeds multiple alpine streams throughout the year.
