Lauteraarhorn, Mountain summit in Bernese Alps, Switzerland
The Lauteraarhorn rises to 4042 meters between the Lower Grindelwald Glacier and the Unteraar Glacier, forming a distinct peak in the Bernese Alps.
Pierre Jean Édouard Desor led the first ascent of Lauteraarhorn on August 8, 1842, accompanied by guides Melchior Bannholzer and Jakob Leuthold through challenging terrain.
The Lauteraarhorn represents a significant geographical landmark in Swiss mountaineering, attracting climbers who seek technical challenges in remote Alpine environments.
Access to Lauteraarhorn requires a 19-kilometer trek from Grimsel Pass to the Aar-Bivouac, which accommodates 17 people without cooking facilities.
The mountain features three distinct summits above 4000 meters, with the main peak connecting to Schreckhorn through a high altitude ridge formation.
