Crestasee, Lake in Grisons, Switzerland

Crestasee, also known as Lag la Cresta or Lake Cresta, is a small lake in the canton of Grisons, Switzerland, sitting at around 844 meters above sea level. It lies near the village of Trin Mulin, roughly 375 meters long and 180 meters wide, surrounded by meadows, trees, and mountain slopes.

The lake sits in an area that has long been used by local communities and is now designated as a protected natural site. This protected status shapes how the shoreline is managed and limits certain activities to preserve the rare plants and animals found there.

The lake goes by several names: Crestasee, Lag la Cresta, and Lake Cresta, reflecting the multilingual character of the region. Along the shore, visitors tend to gather on the grass, rent small boats, or simply watch the water from the rocks.

The lake can be reached by car following signs toward Trin Mulin, or by public bus to the Felsbach Crestasee stop, from which it is about a 15-minute walk. The main season runs from May to September, when a kiosk on the northern shore is open and boat rentals are available.

Despite its modest size, the lake has attracted significant attention on social media, largely because of its turquoise color, which stands out even among other Swiss mountain lakes. Swimming long distances and bringing alcohol to the shore are officially prohibited, rules that help keep the area calm for everyone.
