Titlis Rotair, Revolving aerial tramway in Engelberg, Switzerland.
Titlis Rotair is a modern cable car that rises from Engelberg to approximately 3,020 meters (9,911 feet) and completes a full rotation during the journey. The transport system consists of three interconnected cable car sections providing access to winter sports facilities, a glacier cave, and a suspension bridge.
The cable car was completed in 2014 and replaced an older system with lower capacity. This modernization enabled significantly higher transport efficiency for mountain visitors.
The Titlis station features a chocolate shop with local Swiss specialties where visitors can assemble their own selections. This location combines mountain adventure with the enjoyment of traditional Swiss confections.
The ride operates year-round with different activities available depending on the season. Visitors should bring warm clothing since it is significantly colder at the summit than in the valley.
During the final ascent segment the cabins slowly rotate 360 degrees, gradually revealing the surrounding peaks to passengers over the approximately five-minute ride. This slow rotation allows visitors to view the central Alps from shifting perspectives.
