Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden is a large facility in Songjiang with around 26 themed areas including a conservatory, a former quarry space, and sections for medicinal plants. The gardens are clearly organized and focus on displaying regional plant collections in dedicated zones.

The site was built starting in 2007 and opened to visitors in 2010, creating a new botanical space in Shanghai. The conservatory building was added shortly after and expanded what the garden could offer.

The garden's name comes from Chenshan hill, whose name means "the southeastern of the nine hills of Songjiang". The rose garden, one of the themed display gardens, is laid out on ground surrounded on all sides by lake water, with roses forming the garden's theme. The garden opened on 26 April 2010 to coincide with Expo 2010.

The garden sits on Chen Hua Road and has pathways to explore its different sections. Guided tours are available, which help you learn about the plant collections as you walk through.

The garden maintains a large collection of dried plant specimens used for scientific research. These preserved records allow experts to study and document the flora of the region over time.
