Kawagarbo, Unspoiled summit in China
Kawagarbo, revered by the local Tibetan population, stands majestic at 6,740 meters.
This sacred mountain remains unclimbed after a prohibition following the death of climbers in 2001.
Known as Khawa Karpo in Tibetan, it is one of the most sacred peaks in Tibetan Buddhism.
The area surrounding Kawagarbo is part of the Three Parallel Rivers of Yunnan Protected Areas.
Believed to be the dwelling place of a warrior god, Kawagarbo has not been summited due to religious beliefs.
