Haba Xueshan, Mountain summit in Yunnan, China.
Haba Xueshan is a mountain summit in Yunnan that rises 5,396 meters (17,703 feet) above sea level. It forms a natural boundary between the upper Yangtze River and the Tiger Leaping Gorge landscape.
The first mountaineering expedition reached the summit in 1995, establishing a climbing route that subsequent teams have continued to follow through challenging glacier sections.
The name originates from the Naxi language meaning golden flower, while local Tibetan communities regard the mountain as a sacred natural element.
Climbers start their ascent from Haba village at 2,700 meters and progress through base camp at 4,150 meters before attempting the final summit push. Proper acclimatization and alpine equipment are essential for this elevation.
The mountain contains multiple ecological zones ranging from temperate forests to permanent snow fields, creating distinct environmental conditions at different elevations.
