Jade Water Village

Jade Water Village is a settlement beneath Yulong Snow Mountain where a sacred spring feeds three waterfalls named Appearing Dragon, Playing Dragon, and Farewell Dragon. These waterfalls form the centerpiece of the landscape and shape how the place looks.

The village was established in 1997 to demonstrate the relationship between people and nature, and received AAAA scenic spot status in 2005. Its creation was part of broader efforts to preserve local communities.

The Naxi people practice their traditions through ceremonies in the Dongba Shiluo Hall that honor nature spirits, with ancient songs shared via traditional dance performances.

The village sits roughly 12 kilometers north of Lijiang at an elevation of about 2500 meters. Getting there is easiest by taxi or bus number 8.

A gold-plated statue of Sanduo, the Naxi deity of nature, stands in a pond beside a plaque expressing human commitment to environmental protection. This statue is a symbol many visitors overlook despite its central role to the site's message.
