Fanling station, MTR metro station
Fanling station is a surface metro station in the North District of Hong Kong on the East Rail Line. It has two platforms for trains in both directions and is equipped with ticket machines, shops, and a customer service area.
The station opened in 1910 and was originally the end point of the railway line to Sha Tau Kok. In 1983, the line was electrified and upgraded, enabling more frequent and reliable train service.
The station serves as a central point for daily commuting in the local community of Fanling. It connects the quieter town with the more dynamic urban life in other parts of Hong Kong.
The line runs regularly, especially during peak hours in the morning and late afternoon. The station has clear signage in Chinese and English, and a footbridge connects it to nearby streets and bus stops.
The station was originally the terminus of a separate railway line to Sha Tau Kok before that line closed in 1928. Today it serves as a quiet reminder of that early railway history while functioning as a modern commuter hub.
