Hong Kong Maritime Museum

The Hong Kong Maritime Museum sits at Central Pier 8 and spans multiple floors with around fifteen gallery spaces. The displays feature ship models, navigation instruments, historical photographs, and artifacts that document centuries of seafaring activity in the Pearl River Delta region.

The museum was established in 2005 at Murray House and relocated to Central Pier 8 in 2013. This move allowed the collection to grow significantly, from its original scope to more than two thousand maritime objects.

The museum displays ancient scrolls, ship models, and trade documents that reflect how people on these waters conducted commerce and exploration for centuries. These objects show the ways communities relied on the sea for their livelihood and connections.

The museum is easy to reach by ferry since it sits directly at the pier. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes as there are multiple floors and stairs to navigate through the galleries.

The museum features a ship bridge simulator where visitors can practice controlling a vessel. This hands-on experience offers insight into how captains and navigation professionals carry out their work.
