Hong Kong Observation Wheel, Ferris wheel in Central District, Hong Kong.
Hong Kong Observation Wheel is a ferris wheel along the harbor in Central, between piers 9 and 10 on the Victoria Harbour waterfront. The structure lifts riders in 42 gondolas roughly 60 meters (197 feet) above sea level, offering views across the water, the surrounding high-rise towers and the districts beyond the harbor.
The wheel opened in December 2014 after a longer planning and construction period on the harbor quay. Management changed in September 2017, when a new operator took over the site and introduced adjustments to the operation.
The wheel serves as a popular meeting point along the waterfront, where locals and visitors gather before their rides. The open event plaza in front hosts changing public performances and celebrations throughout the year.
The site sits between ferry piers 9 and 10 directly on the harbor promenade, within easy walking distance from Central Station. Each ride lasts about fifteen minutes and includes several full rotations, giving you enough time to enjoy the view in all directions.
Each gondola has temperature control and small screens that display information about the city during the ride. One special cabin offers leather seats and a see-through glass floor, letting you look straight down.
