Kingkey 100, Supertall skyscraper in Luohu District, Shenzhen, China
Kingkey 100 is a 442-meter skyscraper containing 100 floors above ground and 4 basement levels, with a slim design ratio of 9.5:1. The building houses a luxury hotel, office spaces, and retail areas throughout its structure.
Construction began in October 2007 and finished in September 2011. Upon completion, the structure became the second tallest building in the city.
The name references the 100 floors that define its structure. Inside, dining venues and observation areas draw both travelers and people living in the city.
The building has 66 elevators, including four high-speed units that move quickly through the tower. Plan your visit to the observation areas during quieter times if you want to avoid crowds and long waits.
The steel framework uses plates with a maximum thickness of 130 millimeters, totaling about 60,000 tons of material. These technical specifications set records in Chinese construction and showcase the engineering effort behind the building.
