Museum of Contemporary Art & Planning Exhibition, Shenzhen

The Museum of Contemporary Art & Planning Exhibition is a modern cultural building in Shenzhen with column-free exhibition spaces of varying sizes. These halls have ceiling heights ranging from 6 to 17 meters, allowing for flexible arrangements of artworks and planning displays.

The renowned architecture firm Coop Himmelb(l)au designed this building, which opened in 2016 as Shenzhen's cultural infrastructure expanded. This opening represented an important step in the city's evolution as a major cultural center.

The institution brings together contemporary art exhibitions and urban planning displays in a single space. This combination reflects how cities think about future growth and creativity in modern times.

The building along Fuzhong Road houses multiple exhibition halls, an auditorium, conference rooms, a café, bookstore, and library spread across different levels. Ramps and bridges connect these spaces, making it straightforward to move between different areas of the building.

The building features a silver Cloud structure at its Plaza level that connects various public spaces together. This architectural element creates an unexpected bridge between the museum's interior and exterior areas.
