Civic Center

The Civic Center is a large public administration building in Shenzhen featuring expansive proportions and a distinctive curved roof structure. Inside, it houses government offices, assembly halls, a technology museum, and a conference center, all readily accessible by the nearby Civic Center Station.

Construction began in 1998 with the installation of a major roof truss system, establishing the basic structure for this ambitious project. The final metal cladding was completed in 2004, as technical challenges at this scale required considerable time to solve.

The building blends Southern Chinese design traditions with modern style, making it a visual expression of the city's identity. You can see this mix in the curved wings and the contemporary materials used throughout.

The site is easiest to reach by subway using Civic Center Station, which connects directly to the building. Exploring the public areas is straightforward, with clear signage helping you find your way through the large interior.
