Ping An Finance Centre, Skyscraper in Futian District, Shenzhen, China
Ping An Finance Centre is a skyscraper in Futian, Shenzhen, standing 599 meters tall with 115 floors above ground, wrapped in a stainless steel and glass facade. The structure tapers as it rises, forming a slender silhouette that is emphasized by vertical lines running along the entire exterior surface.
Construction began in 2010 and was completed by 2017, when the building officially opened to tenants and visitors. The development followed a period of rapid economic growth in Shenzhen, which emerged as a special economic zone attracting international investment since the 1980s.
The name translates as "Peace and Safety Finance Centre" and came from its main tenant, one of China's largest insurance companies. Visitors often walk through the ground floor lobby, where polished surfaces reflect light from tall windows that frame views of the business district outside.
The building is accessible via several metro lines that stop nearby, and the main entrance sits at street level in a busy business district. Visitors planning to reach the observation deck should purchase separate admission tickets in advance and allow time for security checks and queues.
A special damping system inside the building uses water tanks to counteract swaying during strong winds or minor earthquakes. This technology helps keep the slender design stable without occupants or visitors feeling any movement.
