Founded in 1933 as the National Central Museum preparatory department, the institution preserved collections by relocating them to Southwest China during wartime.
The museum displays Ming and Qing imperial porcelain collections, ancient calligraphy, jade armor suits, and traditional Chinese paintings from different periods.
Located near Minggugong station, the museum welcomes visitors from Tuesday to Sunday between 9:00 and 17:00, with free admission upon passport presentation.
The museum features a Digital Gallery where visitors can interact with ancient themes through motion capture technology and real-time multimedia simulations.
