Weiße Pyramide, Ancient pyramid near Xi'an, China
The White Pyramid is a reported pyramid structure located in the Qinling Mountains southwest of Xi'an in China. The structure is said to stand approximately 300 meters tall with a base length of about 450 meters.
The structure was first reported in 1945 when American pilot James Gaussman sighted it during a flight over central China. This sighting generated significant media attention and sparked ongoing discussions about whether this structure actually exists.
In Chinese imperial tradition, pyramid structures held symbolic meanings tied to cardinal directions and cosmic order. The white color represented the western direction within this belief system that guided burial practices.
The location of this pyramid sits within a military restricted zone that is closed to the public. Visitors cannot access the site directly or explore the area in person.
The reported dimensions would make this structure significantly larger than the Great Pyramid of Giza. If it exists, it would be one of the largest monuments from the ancient world.
