The mountain originated during the late Cretaceous Period, approximately 135 million years ago, through significant crustal movements forming Danxia landforms.
The mountain serves as a national educational center where visitors learn about Chinese geological heritage and natural conservation methods.
Eight developed sightseeing areas include YuHu ChunXiao Garden, Yutai Bell Pavilion, Taoyuan Greenland, and Longtan Waterfall for visitors to explore.
A 280,000-square-meter stone formation at the mountain resembles a giant turtle with its head raised, giving the mountain its French name Pic de la Tortue.
