Guifeng

Guifeng, Nature reserve and mountain in Yiyang County, Jiangxi Province, China.

Guifeng is a nature reserve and mountain in Jiangxi Province featuring Danxia rock formations that span across extensive terrain and rise to about 545 meters in elevation. The site includes multiple developed viewing areas such as Yutai Bell Pavilion, Taoyuan Greenland, and Longtan Waterfall, offering visitors different routes and vantage points through the landscape.

The mountain formed approximately 135 million years ago during the Cretaceous Period through significant crustal movements that created the distinctive Danxia landforms visible today. This geological history continues to shape the appearance and character of the entire location.

The mountain holds importance as a place where visitors can observe how natural areas are protected and managed for education. Local communities have long recognized the site as valuable for understanding the region's geological character and conservation principles.

Visitors should wear sturdy footwear since trails traverse natural terrain with varying elevation and ground conditions that can shift seasonally. The different viewing areas are spread across the site, so it's wise to plan adequate time and decide which zones match your interests and energy level.

A large stone formation at the site resembles a turtle with its head raised upward, which inspired the mountain's French name Pic de la Tortue. This natural rock sculpture often goes unnoticed by visitors who focus mainly on the waterfalls and pavilions.
