铜钹山

Mount Tongbo is a forest park rising to about 1534 meters that spans across multiple counties in Shangrao in southeastern China. The area features extensive trails and viewing platforms set within dense woodland, with remnants of ancient gates scattered throughout.

The mountain area remained under strict closure from 884 until 1869, earning it the name Forbidden Mountain during that long period. This isolation ended in the late 19th century, marking a significant shift in how the mountain and its inhabitants were connected to the outside world.

The mountain served as a refuge where communities found shelter and left traces of their lives over time. The remaining gates and structures show how people have valued and used this place across generations.

The park is easily reached by car or public transportation, with multiple starting points for visitors at different elevations. Rest areas and viewing platforms are distributed throughout the hiking routes, allowing you to explore at your own pace.

The forest area is home to rare species like Chinese giant salamanders and Yangtze giant softshell turtles that thrive in the park's natural habitats. While these animals are rarely seen during a visit, their presence reflects how intact the local ecosystem remains.
