Mount Jianglang, UNESCO World Heritage mountain in Jiangshan, China
Mount Jianglang is a mountain in Jiangshan featuring three peaks arranged in a river-like formation that rise to 816.8 meters elevation. Red sedimentary rock cliffs dominate the landscape, shaped over time into steep slopes and distinctive vertical rock walls by natural erosion and geological processes.
The mountain was designated as part of the China Danxia UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010, representing one of the country's most important geological formations. The red sedimentary rocks formed approximately 100 million years ago, recording a long geological history.
Local communities maintain traditional tales about heroic figures who explored the mountain peaks throughout Chinese history.
Several hiking trails lead to observation points where the red rock formations are most visible. Access is easiest during dry weather and early in the day when the site is less crowded.
A wingsuit pilot flew between two peaks in 2013, launching from a helicopter in an extreme aerial stunt. This daring feat highlighted the dramatic spacing and towering height of the rock spires.
