Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city

Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city is a settlement spanning over 30 square kilometers of formerly barren land, combining modern buildings with renewable energy and intelligent transportation systems. The entire area was designed so that vehicles, public transit, and green infrastructure work together.

The idea for this project emerged in 2007 from talks between Singapore's and China's top officials. The official groundbreaking took place in 2008 and marked the start of a new approach to sustainable urban development.

The layout links three major centers through extended walking and cycling paths that weave together different residential areas. This arrangement shapes daily life and encourages people to get around without a car.

Electric vehicle charging stations are located throughout the city and a light rail line connects residential areas to business districts. Visitors should allow extra time for walking, as distances between different zones are larger than in traditional cities.

The project is measured through 26 performance indicators that track ecological, economic, and social development. These metrics show how seriously planners take monitoring sustainability and enable long-term comparisons.
