Ocean Pointe is a residential tower in Sham Tseng that rises with 54 floors providing homes for around 560 households. The building uses contemporary architectural design and stands as a notable addition to the local skyline.
The building rose on the site of a former chemical facility operated by Union Carbide, which Kerry Properties purchased in 1994. This transformation reflects how industrial areas in Hong Kong shifted to residential neighborhoods.
The site was a Union Carbide chemical depot from the 1960s, where a latex plant opened in March 1977. After the company moved its Sham Tseng facilities to China in the 1990s, Kerry Properties bought the 99,388 sq ft plot in December 1994 and built the estate, whose first flats were sold in early 2001.
The tower sits on Sham Tsz Street with direct connections to local transportation and nearby services in the New Territories. Its position makes it easy to move around the area and reach neighboring districts.
