Shantou Bay Bridge, Suspension bridge in Shantou, China.
The Shantou Bay Bridge extends 2,420 meters across Shantou Harbor, featuring a main span of 452 meters and a vertical clearance of 38 meters.
The construction of the bridge began on March 28, 1992, after a groundbreaking ceremony in December 1991, and officially opened in December 1995.
The local population refers to this engineering structure as the Goddess of Bridges, reflecting its status as a symbol of regional progress.
The bridge carries six traffic lanes of the G15 Shenyang-Haikou Expressway, connecting the Haojiang and Longhu districts while supporting a speed limit of 60 kilometers per hour.
The structure incorporated electronic toll collection in January 2011 when it joined the Guangdong Province highway network payment system.
