Qita Temple

Qita Temple is a Buddhist temple complex in Yinzhou District featuring multiple traditional halls, courtyards, and seven ancient pagodas that exemplify classical Chinese architectural design. The layout includes various buildings and structures typical of major Buddhist temple compounds.

The temple was established in 858 during the Tang dynasty as Dongjin Chan Courtyard and underwent several reconstructions before receiving its current name during the Qing period. These changes across centuries show how the site adapted to evolving religious and social needs.

The temple serves as a center for the Linji school of Buddhism, where visitors can participate in meditation sessions and explore the public Buddhist library. These activities show how the place continues to function as a spiritual hub for the community.

The temple can be reached via Line 1 of Ningbo Rail Transit by exiting at Jiangxia Bridge East Station and following the marked pathway. This direct transit connection makes it easy to visit as part of a day trip.

This is the only major Chan Buddhist temple complex within Ningbo city limits and received provincial heritage status in 2011. This recognition highlights its importance as a religious center in the region.
