官渡土主庙
The Guandu Earth God Temple is a historical shrine in Kunming built on a large stone platform with an octagonal layout design. The main hall displays classical architecture with curved roofs, intricate wooden carvings, and decorative beam structures that were renewed during the Qing Dynasty.
The temple was originally founded during the Nanzhao period and holds over 1,000 years of history. The current structure was rebuilt during the 19th century Qing Dynasty and designated as a provincial heritage site in 2003.
The temple is dedicated to the Earth God, a protective deity revered by local communities. The worship blends Buddhist and Taoist elements, visible in daily offerings and prayers made by visitors throughout the year.
The site spans 5,000 square meters and is easily accessible from the historic old town area. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and allow time for leisurely exploration, especially to admire the courtyards and wooden architectural details.
The temple was placed under the administration of the Shaolin Temple in 2008 and is now part of the Shaolin network. This unexpected connection links local folk beliefs with the world-famous martial arts tradition.
