Guangjiao Temple

Guangjiao Temple is a Buddhist temple complex on Mount Lang in Nantong featuring multiple structures including the Yuantong Hall, Grand Buddha Hall, and Buddhist Texts Library. The buildings spread across a large area forming a cohesive religious center for worship and study.

The temple traces its roots to the Tang dynasty period and was originally known by a different name before being renamed. It was later designated as a National Key Buddhist Temple, marking its importance to Chinese Buddhist traditions.

The Yuantong Hall displays statues of the Three Sages of the West, including representations of Guanyin, Amitabha, and Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva. These figures hold deep meaning for Buddhist practitioners who come to pay respects.

The temple sits on a mountain, so visitors should move at a steady pace and use stairs carefully when exploring the site. Respectful clothing is expected and shoes should be removed before entering sacred spaces within the complex.

The Zhiyun Pagoda stands as a five-story stone tower with curved structural elements and overhanging roof details reflecting architectural styles from an earlier era. This structure rises prominently above the surrounding buildings and serves as a notable landmark within the complex.
