Nonggang National Natural Reserve, محمية طبيعية في الصين
Nonggang National Natural Reserve is a protected area in Chongzuo in southern China featuring distinctive limestone karst formations, valleys, and rivers. The landscape includes rolling hills with seasonal rainforest covering parts of the terrain, all supporting a range of rare plants and animal species adapted to these conditions.
The area has long served local communities as an important space for environmental preservation and conservation. The limestone formations were shaped over millions of years through natural geological processes, revealing the deep time history of the region.
The name Nonggang reflects the limestone karst landscape that defines the area. Visitors can observe how the rocky terrain shapes the environment and how the seasonal rainforest influences both wildlife patterns and the way people in surrounding villages interact with this natural space.
Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and bring water as the terrain is uneven and trails lead through varying elevations. The best time to visit is from September through May when the weather is milder and wildlife activity is higher.
The reserve is home to the Nonggang babbler, a rare bird discovered only in 2005 that is found almost nowhere else beyond this reserve and adjacent areas in Vietnam. Visitors have the chance to see this globally limited species along with other animals like White-headed Langurs in their natural setting.
