慈化寺, building in China
Cihuasi is a Buddhist temple in Yichun with architecture from the Ming and Qing periods, featuring roofs covered in gray-green tiles and finely carved wooden beams. The complex includes several halls with Buddha statues, ancient stone steles, incense vessels, and decorative wood carvings on pillars and beams.
Founded by Master Puan during the Song dynasty, the temple has a history of more than 800 years. The complex flourished during the Ming and Qing periods with imperial recognition, suffered some damage later, but has been restored and rebuilt in recent decades.
Local residents visit during important festivals to perform traditional ceremonies and walk the temple courtyards in prayer. Daily activities like burning incense and making offerings have made this place a center where pilgrims and locals gather to seek blessings.
The temple is easy to reach as roads are well developed with multiple routes leading to the complex. Visitors can enjoy the quiet surroundings with greenery around the site and should respect the natural calm of the place.
The temple complex preserves rare Buddhist artifacts such as Song-era ceramic beads and Ming-era relief panels that showcase the craftsmanship of Jiangxi Buddhists. These valuable objects offer insights into the region's historical artistic development.
