Shui Pin Wai Estate, Public rental housing complex in Yuen Long District, Hong Kong.
Shui Pin Wai Estate is a public housing complex with seven residential towers located on Ma Miu Road in Yuen Long. The estate contains around 2,400 apartments organized across a substantial site in the northwestern area near the Light Rail Shui Pin Wai station.
The site was first built in 1981 and received an additional building called Dip Shui House in 1998. After 2001 it became the oldest public housing estate of its type in Yuen Long District.
The name refers to a water channel that once flowed through this area in earlier times. Today the place functions as both a residential community and a gathering space where neighbors meet in shared courtyards and common areas.
The estate is easily accessible on foot and connects directly to the Shui Pin Wai Light Rail station for convenient travel. Visitors can navigate the site with clear signage and nearby shops provide services and supplies throughout the area.
The complex includes special design features such as leaning benches in elevators and carefully placed handrails to support older residents. These details show how housing can be tailored to meet the needs of an aging population.
