Ching Shu Hin

Ching Shu Hin is a late 19th-century guest house with an L-shaped floor plan located in Hang Mei Tsuen. Its facade and interior spaces display traditional Chinese architectural elements with intricate decorative patterns that reflect the more elaborate building style of that period.

The building was constructed in the second half of the 19th century as lodging for visitors to the prosperous Tang family. This period brought significant changes to the region as traditional communities faced new economic forces.

The building served as a reception space where the Tang family welcomed visitors and conducted local affairs over generations. The rooms reflect the social customs that show how prosperous families lived in this rural area.

The building is part of a trail connecting multiple historical sites and can only be visited through guided tours. Wear comfortable walking shoes as the visit includes exploring the surrounding area.

The original room layout has been preserved and clearly separates formal reception areas from private meeting spaces. This division reveals how important privacy and hierarchy were in family life of that era.
