Tang Ancestral Hall, Ha Tsuen

Tang Ancestral Hall in Ha Tsuen is a traditional building with three main halls and two courtyards, featuring detailed wood carvings and decorative murals throughout. The adjacent Guesthouse contains altars dedicated to the Gods of Literature and Martial Arts.

The hall was built by the Tang family between 1749 and 1750 and later renovated during the Daoguang and Guangxu periods. These repairs in 1837 and 1883 show the site's ongoing importance to the family.

The hall displays many honor plaques that document the Tang family's achievements in imperial service. These tablets show how the family preserved their status and accomplishments across generations.

The building is easy to explore and allows visitors to walk through multiple halls containing ancestral tablets. The manageable size makes it possible to see all areas in a single visit.

The building once served as a school location when Yau Kung School held classes in portions of the hall and Guesthouse. This dual purpose shows how ancestral sites adapted to community needs.
