督军府旧址

This former Military Governor's Office is a government complex in central Taiyuan built with traditional Chinese architecture, gray stone walls, and wooden structures arranged across the site. The compound contains several connected buildings organized around courtyards, following the typical layout of a Chinese administrative center.

This building was created in the early 1900s as the headquarters for military governor Yan Xishan, who ruled Shanxi province from 1911 to 1945. It represents the power structure that emerged during China's transition from imperial rule.

The compound shows a blend of northern Chinese administrative design and local Shanxi building methods that shaped how this region was governed. Walking through, you notice the gray stone walls and wooden structures that reflect what mattered most to builders here.

The main entrance is located on the south side of the site. Guided tours in multiple languages are available to help you understand the different rooms and displays throughout the complex.

The complex preserves original furniture and documents from the warlord period, including the personal desk of Yan Xishan. These items offer a rare glimpse into the daily life of leaders during this turbulent era.
