Anchan Temple, Buddhist temple in Taigu County, China
Anchan Temple is a Buddhist temple in Taigu County with two surviving structures. The sutra repository dates from the Song Dynasty, while the main hall was built during the Ming Dynasty.
The temple was founded in early times and underwent renovations across multiple dynasties. Its final major restoration took place in 1877 during the Qing period.
The temple displays traditional Buddhist architecture with a north-south orientation and its main entrance facing south. This classical layout remains visible today and shapes how visitors move through the space.
The temple is located on Anchansi Street in the center of Taigu County and is easy to reach. As a protected cultural site, it is well-maintained and accessible with proper arrangements.
The sutra repository is one of the few surviving Song Dynasty structures in Shanxi Province. This building once housed historical Buddhist manuscripts that documented the religious knowledge of that era.
