Xiangji Temple, Buddhist temple in Gongshu District, China

Xiangji Temple is a place of worship in Gongshu District with multiple halls arranged according to classical Chinese architectural principles, housing a statue of Maitreya Buddha in its main sanctuary. The complex includes two pagodas, one of which dates to the 7th century and rises prominently above the grounds.

The temple gained early importance when a Tang dynasty emperor donated sacred relics to it, bestowing the site with great spiritual significance. This imperial gift established it as a place of religious authority and imperial recognition.

The temple serves as an active center for Pure Land Buddhism followers, where visitors can observe meditation practices and witness religious ceremonies taking place. The halls function as living spaces of prayer and spiritual practice, reflecting how local believers engage with their faith daily.

The site welcomes visitors freely during daylight hours, with easy pedestrian access throughout the grounds where you can walk and explore at your own pace. Wearing comfortable shoes is advisable, and allowing time for a leisurely stroll through the various halls helps you take everything in properly.

The older pagoda on the grounds was built in the early classical period and stands as a remarkable example of ancient craftsmanship through its proportions and design. Many visitors overlook this monument while focusing on the main halls, though it offers fine views and a quieter spot for reflection.
