Chenglu is a three-storey Western-style villa standing between Nanshan Road and West Lake in Hangzhou's Shangcheng District, its west side directly against the lake. Built in the 1920s, it covers about 250 square metres and has creamy-yellow exterior walls.

Chenglu was built in the 1920s as the villa of Sheng Enyi, general manager of the Hanyeping Company and fourth son of Sheng Xuanhuai. In December 1927, after their wedding, Chiang Kai-shek and Soong Mei-ling stayed here, and they returned after the Xi'an Incident. The city listed it as a protected heritage site in 2000, the province in 2005.

The name Chenglu, "Cheng" meaning clear and "Lu" meaning cottage, was given to this cream-yellow Western-style villa. It is associated with Sheng Enyi, fourth son of Sheng Xuanhuai and general manager of the Hanyeping Company, who had it built in the 1920s. After their December 1927 wedding, Chiang Kai-shek and Soong Mei-ling stayed here, and they returned after the Xi'an Incident.

The villa stands on Nanshan Road between the road and West Lake, in the Shangcheng District, with the lake directly along its west side. It is a three-storey building of about 250 square metres, so a visit takes little time. Approach on foot along the lakeside road; the entrance faces the street, not the water.

The creamy-yellow three-storey villa stands directly against the West Lake shore, so its windows face the water rather than the hills.
