Golden Temple Park, Bronze Taoist temple in Mingfeng Mountains, Kunming, China
Golden Temple Park is a temple complex with multiple bronze buildings set across a forested mountainside in Kunming. The compound includes botanical gardens, ornate gates, and is surrounded by pine and cypress trees.
The temple was built in 1602 during the Ming Dynasty and was extensively rebuilt under Wu Sangui between 1662 and 1722. This reconstruction transformed the compound into the form visitors see today.
Visitors come here to make offerings and spend time in the forested surroundings that give the place a contemplative quality. The detailed bronze artwork visible throughout the compound reflects skilled craftsmanship that remains central to understanding the site's spiritual purpose.
You can reach the site by taking buses 71 or 10 from different stops around the city. Early morning visits are most enjoyable when the forested paths are less crowded.
The compound includes two ancient trees from the Ming period and rare winter-blooming camellias that stand out in the forest. A large bronze bell cast in 1423 adds another layer of age and craftsmanship to the grounds.
