The Zhongxing Bridge stretches 35.7 kilometers across Hangzhou Bay, connecting the municipalities of Jiaxing and Ningbo in eastern China.
The construction of Zhongxing Bridge began in June 2003 and concluded in June 2007, reducing the travel distance between Ningbo and Shanghai by 220 kilometers.
The service center on the bridge, named Land between the Sea and Sky, includes a 145.6-meter observation tower for visitors to view the surrounding waters.
The bridge features six traffic lanes and implements specialized steel piles instead of concrete supports to prevent corrosion from strong tidal forces.
Engineers applied low-strength early-stretching technology during construction to prevent concrete cracking while maintaining structural flexibility in the marine environment.
