Hermes, Social housing ship on Vltava River, Prague, Czech Republic
The Hermes vessel extends 77 meters in length and 9 meters in width, featuring accommodation spaces for 250 passengers along the riverside.
Originally constructed as a cargo barge in 1962, the Hermes underwent a transformation in 2006 through a 12-million-crown investment by Prague City Hall.
The vessel represents Prague's commitment to addressing urban housing needs by providing shelter services for 135 men and 45 women in need.
Residents must arrive between 7:30 PM and 8:30 PM, receive dinner at 10 PM, and depart by 6:30 AM the following morning.
The floating shelter near Stefanik Bridge delivers over half of Prague's homeless accommodation capacity while offering legal and psychological support services.
