Ostfildern

Ostfildern is a municipality in Baden-Württemberg that spans across the Filder plateau near Stuttgart, organized into six residential districts. The town comprises several neighborhoods including Nellingen, Ruit, Kemnat, and Scharnhausen, which serve as its main centers.

The municipality was created on January 1, 1975, when four independent towns—Nellingen, Ruit, Kemnat, and Scharnhausen—merged into one. This consolidation reflected broader administrative reforms reshaping the region during that period.
