Neu-Isenburg, Urban municipality in Offenbach district, Germany.
Neu-Isenburg is a municipality in Offenbach district with three neighborhoods: the center, Gravenbruch and Zeppelinheim near Frankfurt am Main. The built-up area covers 24 square kilometers (9 square miles) and combines residential zones with commercial developments and green spaces along small waterways.
Count Johann Philipp von Isenburg-Offenbach founded the settlement in 1699 as a refuge for French Protestants fleeing religious persecution. The municipality grew rapidly during the 20th century due to airport construction and proximity to the metropolis of Frankfurt.
The Hugenottenhalle functions as the main venue for theater productions, concerts, exhibitions and community gatherings throughout the year. Its name recalls the French Protestant settlers who founded the town and whose descendants remain part of the local population today.
The municipality sits near Frankfurt Airport and connects easily via several autobahns. Isenburg-Zentrum offers shops, restaurants and services for daily needs in one place.
The Autokino Gravenbruch opened in 1960 as the first drive-in cinema of its kind in Europe and still screens films under the open sky today. Visitors park their vehicle in front of the large screen and watch movies from inside their own car.
