Zionskirche, Lutheran church in Soltau, Germany
Zionskirche is a red brick church building in Soltau featuring a western bell tower and pointed arch windows in the Gothic Revival style. The structure ends to the east with a polygonal shape decorated with ornamental brickwork patterns.
Construction took place in 1888, following planning that began in 1878 with a mission meeting in nearby Meßhausen. The congregation established itself as part of a Free Church movement connected to Hermannsburg-Hamburg roots.
The name Zion refers to the heavenly Jerusalem in Christian tradition, symbolizing hope and spiritual home for the congregation. Inside, the simple design with pale wooden galleries frames the worship space and invites quiet reflection.
The church sits centrally in Soltau at An der Zionskirche 5 and is easy to reach on foot from the town center. It remains an active place of worship and community gatherings, so opening times vary with the event schedule.
The organ was built by Amadeus Junker in 2003 and features eight registers spread across manual and pedal keyboards. The split manual design provides musicians with extra flexibility for creating different sound combinations.
