Soltau Toy Museum, Toy museum in Soltau, Germany.
The Soltau Toy Museum displays four centuries of toys from different manufacturers across about 900 square meters (9,700 square feet) spread over two buildings in the city center. The exhibition includes dolls, model railways, teddy bears, historic dollhouses, and recreated children's rooms from various periods.
The museum began with a private collection established in 1984. It became a charitable foundation called Stiftung Spiel in 2005.
The collection shows toys that accompanied children across generations, from dolls to teddy bears to mechanical tin toys. You can see how play and childhood changed in Germany over the decades.
The museum is open daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and welcomes visitors throughout the year. Guests can handle and test selected toys, which makes the visit interactive and hands-on.
The museum houses Dingley Hall, a Victorian dollhouse 3 meters wide with 15 furnished rooms, purchased from Christie's in London. This elaborate object is a highlight of the collection and shows the craftsmanship of dollhouse makers from past eras.
