Gerolstein

Gerolstein is a spa town in the Vulkaneifel district surrounded by volcanic rock formations and natural mineral springs. The settlement sits in a valley where visitors can see the geological landscape that defines the area's character.

The town received its city rights in 1336 and became an important trading point along local routes. French forces caused major destruction in the late 1600s, but residents rebuilt the settlement afterward.
