G’sengte Sau, Steel roller coaster at Erlebnispark Tripsdrill in Cleebronn, Germany
G'sengte Sau is a steel roller coaster at Erlebnispark Tripsdrill near Cleebronn, reaching about 50 feet (16 meters) at its highest point via a chain lift, with a track of roughly 1,575 feet (480 meters). The layout includes several tight hairpin turns and a helix section that define the character of the ride.
The coaster was built in 1998 by Gerstlauer and was the company's first roller coaster project ever. The steel components were supplied by Maurer Rides GmbH, making this ride an early joint effort between two manufacturers that would later become well known in the industry.
The name G'sengte Sau is a Swabian expression meaning roughly 'singed pig', a reference to the old practice of scorching a pig's skin after slaughter. This local phrase gives the ride a folk character that fits well with the regional tone of Erlebnispark Tripsdrill as a whole.
The ride suits families with older children and is not too extreme for occasional riders. Several brake sections along the track keep the pace controlled throughout the course, which makes the experience manageable for a wide range of visitors.
At the opening event, an inline skater completed the full track while holding a full liter of beer on specially built skates. This unusual stunt attracted attention from international media at the time.
