Mammut, Wooden roller coaster in Erlebnispark Tripsdrill, Cleebronn, Germany
Mammut is a wooden roller coaster in Erlebnispark Tripsdrill that spans 860 meters of track with peak heights of around 30 meters. The ride operates two trains simultaneously, each with four cars accommodating up to 24 passengers per cycle.
The coaster opened in 2008 as Germany's first wooden roller coaster designed and built entirely by German engineering companies and manufacturers. This achievement marked a significant milestone for German engineering expertise in amusement ride construction.
The name references giant redwoods, trees that feature prominently in the park's natural setting. This connection to the forest environment reflects the wooded landscape that surrounds the entire grounds.
Access to the coaster is from the main Erlebnispark Tripsdrill grounds where queue areas are clearly marked. Visiting on a day with good visibility enhances the experience, and multiple rides throughout the day are feasible given the short duration of each cycle.
In 2009, an extreme athlete rode the entire track on specially modified inline skates instead of in the regular cars. This unusual stunt demonstrated the durability and versatility of the wooden structure.
