Sellin

Sellin is a coastal resort on Rügen Island along the German Baltic Sea shore. The town features a long sandy beach, a wooden pier structure extending into the water, and vacation accommodations and hotels spread along the waterfront area.

The place began as a small fishing settlement but grew into a significant resort during the late 1800s when villa construction began. The expansion of rail connections made it accessible to visitors from distant regions.

The beach promenade displays buildings in the classic style of Baltic Sea resort architecture, with light wooden facades and decorative details from around 1900. This distinctive look gives the place its character and sets it apart from other coastal towns.

Visitors have direct beach access and will find various restaurants, accommodations, and a train station on site. An elevator system connects the elevated town center with the beach zone and makes moving between different elevation levels easier.

The wooden pier is a structure over 400 meters long that extends far into the Baltic Sea and offers visitors a special view of the water. It stands as one of the most distinctive features of the place and attracts many photographers.
